The Author
This is the page where I tell you--fan, reader, or just an interested passerby--something about me, and where you pretend to be interested--even if you aren't. If you're not, you could of course skip this and look at another page--several to choose from on this new website of mine--or you could just read through this boring biography of mine. Your choice--choose well!
For starters, I was not born as Helen Elizabeth James. This is a pen name I adopted in the last year when I decided to start publishing my work. Helen Elizabeth was a name my grandmother wished to give me, but my parents decided on another name. I am now honoring her wish and using it, even if she is no longer here to see that. James is a random name I picked from a list to use--nothing special about it.
I will not tell you my name, my location, nationality, or age. My true identity will remain completely anonymous to you, dear reader, and I hope you'll enjoy the mystery. I will, however, tell you a little about myself and how I came to choose writing as a career. If you are still reading this, I will have to assume you might be more interested in this biography than I originally assumed! If that is so, I hope I don't lose your interest along the way.
I was born in a county of Charlotte, North Carolina in the USA. Whether I am American or not, whether I am in the USA or not, will remain a mystery for you to delve over. I was the first of four other children and was quite close with all my younger siblings as a child. At first, I did not enjoy writing; it was just a tiring chore I was made to do for homework.
My view and opinions on writing drastically changed when I was thirteen years old. I had developed a knack for creating imaginary characters, settings, and scenes, and I enjoyed acting them out with my younger sister. However, things never seemed to go exactly as I'd planned when my sister had half the control of the story. Inspiration struck--I could write them down exactly as I'd planned and no one could change it. That same year, I got on the computer and started writing. I had little interest in the internet, games, or even the TV. I spent the next several years constantly writing my ideas and stories down without stopping.
By the age of sixteen, I had completed several short stories as well as novels--though amateur and most likely filled with mistakes I wasn't aware of--but the idea of publishing had never occurred to me. Since then, I have continued writing. It had become a goal to become a published author somewhere along the road, but I didn't believe I had the means to accomplish that goal.
The idea of publishing online came up a few years ago, and I started research. I found websites that could accommodate my needs and I started planning. That is how I am here now and on my way to becoming a published fantasy author.
This is the end of my short, boring biography. I hope I didn't bore you too much with it! For information about my books, please check out the other pages. To contact me, click the email link at the top right of this website.
